Solution · home hi-fi

Your hi-fi, untethered.

Stream from any phone to the amplifier you already love — LDAC quality, zero new cables, one small box.

Your hi-fi, untethered.

Adding Bluetooth to a home hi-fi takes one receiver, two cables and about five minutes. You plug the receiver into any free line input on your amplifier or powered speakers, give it USB power, and pair your phone — the speakers, the room and the sound signature you tuned all stay exactly as they are.

It is the cleanest upgrade in audio because nothing is replaced. The DAC in a receiver like the B3 decodes LDAC and aptX HD before your amp sees the signal, so a 2010 amplifier behaves like a 2026 streamer. Below: the failures this setup removes, the signal chain, and the boxes we recommend for each kind of system.

The phone is the music library Playlists live on the phone; the amp only has RCA and 3.5mm inputs. Every listening session starts with a cable.
Streaming boxes want a new ecosystem Network streamers assume Wi-Fi, apps and accounts. A Bluetooth receiver assumes only your phone.
Ripping CDs is not a hobby You want the convenience of streaming with the rig you already own — not another black box to babysit.

Three boxes, zero new cables.

What changes on the rack

Physically, almost nothing. The receiver is a palm-sized box that lives behind the amplifier: one pair of interconnects into a free line input, a USB cable to whatever 5V outlet the shelf already has, and an antenna angled out of the metal. There is no software to install, no bridge device on the network and no account to create. The most common install mistake is choosing the wrong input — phono inputs apply gain designed for a cartridge, so always prefer aux, tuner or line.

Sonically, the chain is short: the phone encodes, the receiver decodes through its own DAC, and the amplifier receives ordinary line level. With LDAC on an Android phone the feed runs at up to 990 kbps; iPhones negotiate AAC, which every blafili receiver supports. Set the phone volume to maximum once and control listening level on the amplifier — that keeps the digital path at full resolution.

Choosing between the boxes

Decide from the amplifier backwards. A single RCA aux input is the R1 territory: one cable pair, no configuration, the most affordable route into wireless. A modern stack with balanced inputs justifies the XLR; longer interconnect runs stay quieter balanced as well. If you want headroom for everything — optical from a TV, coaxial from a CD transport, XLR into a monitor controller — the B3 is the only one of the three that carries all four outputs at once, plus the OLED that names the live codec.

Whole-home fantasies can wait: one receiver per room is the honest architecture, and two family phones can share a receiver by taking turns. Bluetooth range is 20–30 meters line of sight; a shelf behind a metal cabinet steals more range than a wall does.

The right box for this room.

Why these three. The B3 is the reference pick — LDAC, an ESS ES9018K2M DAC and four outputs (XLR, RCA, optical, coaxial) cover virtually every amplifier ever made. The XLR feeds balanced systems and longer cable runs at line level. The R1 is the two-plug budget route: RCA out, USB-C power, nothing else to learn.

Set up once, forget the box.

  1. Pick the input. Look at the back of your amp: RCA aux, balanced XLR or optical — match the receiver output to a free input.
  2. Power over USB. Any 5V phone charger runs every blafili receiver; the R1 and B3 also run while charging.
  3. Pair once. Hold pair, tap the phone, done. Every unit takes a custom broadcast name — and the B3 adds a 4-digit passcode for shared homes.
  4. Sit back at the listening position. Volume lives on the phone; set the amp to a comfortable reference level and leave it there.

I bought this receiver to use with my speaker setup in the bedroom. I didn't want a cable dragging across the carpet, and needed a receiver that ran on USB C - this was a perfect fit; I wired up the RCA cables to my amp, plugged in the USB power, and away I went! Pairing via Bluetooth was nice and simple to my Google TV, and I was pleasantly surprised by the minimal amount of latency between the TV and audio.

I just turn on my amp and it connects, which is all I wanted - no fussing, no beeping, it just works!

this is by far the best 100 bucks I ever spent. here is why . the sound is amazing. it gives you XLR outs that works with my sound system in a lot of settings . the sound coming out of those XLR outs are crystal clear. and there is absolutely no noise even with the large professional speakers such as QSC k12, and line array.
I used them with behringer wing, Midas and presonus and I was very impressed. I also used them with my home surround and stereo systems . with high end unforgiving speakers such as B&W, Vienna Acoustics etc
but the best part is the customer service.
I bought one device, more than a year ago and suddenly the xlr outs stopped working while both the analog and optic outs still worked . because I loved it so much I bought another one the same day but before it arrived I decided to send a message to the customer service and told them what happened
. within couple of hours I get a response from them saying " can you let us replace it for free" and of course I said yes , they asked me for the order number and a picture of the device which I provided. then they sent me a brand new one and told me to keep the old one even though I told him I bought a new one they still sent me the replacement. This is great customer service and a great product. Now I will keep the Three devices since I love t mm so much.
thank you guys very much.

Receiving audio over Bluetooth 5.2 with aptX HD and aptX Adaptive support keeps the stream stable and clean without background noise, hiss or drops...

The continuous USB-C power design means the receiver stays on and ready on the cabinet without cutting out, auto sleeping, or a battery that dies. It also supports dual device connection, letting you stay paired to a phone and a laptop simultaneously so switching playback sources is seamless.
The total lack of electronic pairing beeps or loud voice prompts when connecting means it stays completely silent through your speakers until you actually hit play.

It functions strictly as an audio receiver though, so you cannot use it to send sound from a TV out to wireless headphones. The tiny plastic casing is also exceptionally lightweight, meaning stiffer RCA cables can easily drag the unit around on the desk if they are not weighted down or positioned properly.

All in all though, its simple, cost effected solution that brings older amplifiers up to modern tech without any annoying notification noises. Pretty much just plug and play.

4.5/5 rounded up.

Asked in this room.

Will Bluetooth hurt my sound quality?

Not with the right codec. LDAC carries up to 990 kbps and aptX HD 576 kbps — on a B3 the signal is decoded by an ESS DAC before your amplifier, and most listeners cannot tell it from a wired source in blind listening.

Can I keep using my CD player?

Yes — the receiver adds an input, it does not replace one. The B3 even switches between Bluetooth and USB-C wired audio automatically.

Do I need Wi-Fi?

No. Bluetooth is point-to-point between your phone and the receiver — no network, no app, no account.

Multi-room?

One receiver per room is the honest answer. Two phones can also take turns: the last device paired wins until you switch it back.
