Very convenient for connecting multiple devices simultaneously.
This device doesn't have all the features enabled for bluetooth 5.2, but i could connect both my pc and my phone to it. It must be disconnected while pairing with each device, but once paired both devices could connect concurrently. It can also be put into pairing mode with double-tap of the one button it has on top. Very nice feature. When i disconnect bluetooth (shut down for the night), the connections come back up automatically on both devices after i power it back up again. This makes it very handy, just set and forget. Walk away, even overnight, and when you get back the connection re-establishes. Beautiful. It doesn't automatically shut down or go into sleep mode, and it doesn't heat up or cause my USB hub to heat, so i assume very little power is consumed.
This now means i can finally get more wires off my desk, clean look.
Shipping was very slow, almost a month, i hope they work that stuff out a bit better in future, or maybe it was just a timing thing, luck of the draw, but the device itself is solid and reliable. Great value.
The size is pretty compact, however i'm not sure why it's not smaller, it has no batteries, and doesn't have much more than a earphone would have. In fact, it reports as qualcomm QCC3040, which is a headphone/earphone DSP with bluetooth 5.2. It should be puny. Nevertheless, its a bit smaller than a deck of playing cards in its box, convenient, and easy to stow. I was able to maintain clear connection from one storey up, and within 20 meters of the device.

yo so i picked up this blafili R1 bluetooth receiver to finally hook my phone up to my old home stereo setup, and honestly? its pretty killer. the best part by far is the "no-beep" pairing thing. if you ever owned one of those cheap adapters you know how annoying it is when it lets out a deafening BEEP through your speakers every single time you connect. this one is totally silent when it pairs which is amazing.
its super compact size too, like you can just tuck it right behind your amp or on top of a shelf and you wont even see it. the sound quality is shockingly clean over the rca line out cables, no weird background noise or buzzing hiss at all when the music stops playing which usually drives me crazy. the range is also great, i can walk all the way into the kitchen to grab a snack and the music doesnt stutter or cut out at all.
only real downside is the usb input—its cool that it has one for variety, but since there isnt a screen on the box, navigating songs on a thumb drive is kinda like guessing in the dark lol. also the little box is so lightweight that my heavy rca cables kinda drag it backwards if i dont tape it down. but yeah, if you want a simple diy way to modernize an old vintage stereo without spending a fortune, this thing rules.
Review from AmazonThis Bluetooth receiver is an exceptional utility tool for adding modern wireless streaming capabilities to vintage stereos, integrated amplifiers, and classic component receivers. By acting as a high-fidelity digital bridge, it successfully breathes new life into old equipment, allowing you to retain the warm, robust amplification of vintage analog hardware while bypassing the lack of native wireless connectivity.
The hardware layout is incredibly straightforward and user-friendly. The device features dedicated left and right channel RCA outputs on the rear chassis, which connect directly to standard Auxiliary, Tape, or Tuner inputs on your stereo receiver using standard audio cables. Once powered up, you can instantly link a smartphone, tablet, or laptop via Bluetooth to stream digital music libraries, podcasts, and streaming services from across the room. The wireless pairing process is highly efficient and holds a stable, skip-free connection without introducing distracting background hum, line noise, or signal latency into the analog playback chain.
This blafili R1 Bluetooth Receiver for Home Stereo works well. We have an old Yamaha reciever. Luckily, I had an unused red and white rca plug and charger block in my "wire drawer".
It was simple to find the "audio 1 and audio2" red and white plug ins on the back of the Yamaha. I chose audio 1, plugged into the corresponding holes, plugged in the power cord and had an alternating red and blue light blinking on the bluetooth reciever. I found it listed in my Bluetooth settings on my Samsung s25+ cellphone, chose it and was streaming Pandora through our surround sound system. Easy! The Bluetooth reciever is small and easily fits about anywhere.
This Bluetooth receiver worked right out of the box. I used it with my old TV and paired it to my Bluetooth headphones and was pleasantly surprised by the quality. However, there is a lag issue between the TV’s own speaker and the sound through this receiver - not significant if you don’t mind. Notice that the input is very limited (only RCA cables).
This turns your home stereo into a bluetooth system. It is a receiver only. It does not transmit a signal or drive speakers. It is a small unit that provides a service you may find helpful. For me, it is just another gadget that I didn't need. All that said, it apparently does what it is designed to do. Is the price justified? I think it may be fine for someone who needs this sort of device, but I was thinking it to do something entirely different. But that is on me. It does look like a well designed device and the blafili brand seems to be a good brand name, so I will give it the benefit of any doubt and call it good.
The set up manual is easy to understand.
Simple Bluetooth Upgrade for Older Stereo Systems
The blafili R1 is a compact and easy-to-use Bluetooth receiver for adding wireless streaming to an older stereo system, amplifier, or powered speaker with RCA input. Setup was very straightforward: connect the RCA cable, power it through USB-C, pair it with a phone or tablet, and it starts playing audio quickly.
The sound is clean for everyday music listening, and the unit is small enough to place behind or beside a stereo setup without taking much space. I also like that it keeps the design simple without unnecessary features.
One important thing to know is that this is a Bluetooth receiver only. It receives audio from your phone, tablet, or computer and sends it to your stereo through RCA. It does not transmit audio from a TV, receiver, or turntable to Bluetooth headphones or Bluetooth speakers.
Overall, it is a good choice if you want to modernize an older home stereo system with Bluetooth streaming. Just make sure you need a receiver, not a transmitter.
This little gadget is exactly what I didn’t know I needed.
I’ve got an older receiver that still gets called into service whenever I host BBQs or gatherings. Historically, that meant I could play music from my phone… but only as long as I was willing to treat my receiver like a sacred altar that I had to physically approach every time I wanted to skip a song.
Enter this device.
Setup was laughably easy. I connected it via RCA cables (which, let’s be honest, everyone has in a mysterious cable drawer that also contains at least three dead chargers and a VGA cable from 2006). Plugged it into USB power, paired it via Bluetooth, and boom—done in about the time it takes to argue about what music to play.
Now I can walk around my yard like a civilized human being instead of sprinting back to the receiver every time someone requests “literally anything else.” My guests think I’m just casually vibing, but really I’m just skipping songs from my pocket like a DJ with commitment issues.
Important note: it only goes one direction (phone → receiver), which is exactly what it says it does. So no, it will not magically turn your ancient stereo into a spaceship. But for what it is, it absolutely delivers.
Bottom line: reasonably priced, simple, effective, and it saves me from doing unnecessary cardio at parties. Easily one of those “why didn’t I get this sooner?” pickups.

Before you ask.
What's the cheapest way to add Bluetooth to a stereo?
R1: it draws power from USB-C and feeds your receiver's RCA input — no DAC, no extra boxes, one cable pair.
